Resolution Regarding Senator John Cornyn

Resolution 2005-03

Whereas;
Senator John Cornyn has made irresponsible statements regarding Supreme Court justices who opposed the execution of juveniles and claimed that judicial activism might cause further violence against members of the judiciary,

And whereas;
Senator Cornyn's statements will add to the growing danger of violence against members of the judiciary,

And whereas;
Senator Cornyn's statements may have violated Federal law against threats of violence against members of the judiciary,

And whereas;
Senator Cornyn's statements have besmirched the reputation of the State of Texas and embarrassed us before the nation,

Therefore, be it resolved;
That the Dallas County Young Democrats call for an immediate investigation by the United States Senate Ethics Committee into the possible illegality of the comments made by Senator Cornyn,

Be it further resolved;
That the Dallas County Young Democrats call for a detailed and truly sincere apology from Senator John Cornyn,

Be it further resolved;
That true copies of this resolution will be delivered to Senator Cornyn, The Dallas Morning News, the leadership of the United States Senate and the members of the Senate Ethics Committee.
