The Standing Committees of the Dallas County Young Democrats

The various committees of the Dallas County Young Democrats are where all of our work gets done. Through our committee system, we bring new members into active participation in the club, we break activities down into manageable projects and we keep on top of the day-to-day operations of one of Dallas County's largest grassroots political organizations.

If you are interested in contributing your time and talents to one of our committees, please contact the chair of that committee or the presiding vice president for the committee.

Campaign & Party Relations Committee
This committee coordinates our work with other Dallas County Democratic clubs and with Democratic campaigns. When the DCYDs organize a group effort to help a candidate, this committee will be leading that drive. When we work with another club to bring in national speakers, this committee will serve as our liason. In other words, this committee's work will be extremely important to our club's position in the wider Dallas Democratic Party. Communications Committee
Part of the reorganization of our club is a refocus on communication to our members. To that end, we're seeking to drastically improve the content and quality of our club publications, including our mailed out print newsletter and it's bimonthly email supplement. We need writers, photographers and just general workers to help us make the most out of the DCYD's publications. Contact committee chair Kurt Watkins for more information.

Community Service Committee
As Democrats, we hope to be the difference in the community that we support politcally. The Community Service Committee plans and facilitates volunteer service projects to serve others, build relationships, and reach out to new members in a fun environment. Events Committee
What's a club without events? From our regular meetings to our monthly happy hours, the events committee is the group of people that keep our calendars full and our club moving forward. Contact committee chair Zenette Jenkins for more information.

Finance Committee
This committee is responsible for the maintenance and disbursement of the organization's funds. It coordinates fundraising efforts for DCYD, by helping to organize special events and membership drives. Additional funds supporting our organization are provided through the generosity of our Sustaining Members, and this committee oversees the management and expansion of the Sustaining Membership Program, which provides a foundation for the future growth of DCYD. Membership Committee
The membership committee is in charge of outreach from the club to our newest members. The membership committee collects and helps process the new member forms at various events, organizes contact information for new members and assemebles the club's membership packets. This important committee is a key to managing the explosive growth our club has seen in recent years. Contact committee chair Eric Weiss for more information.

These are the committees as they currently stand. As the year progresses, more standing committees may be added. Be sure to check back regularly to discover if we're looking for someone with your talents.
